We have our own well at the distillery with clear and clean groundwater, ready to use and perfectly safe.
Organic farming helps us protect precious ground water resources. For the last 30 years no pesticides have been used near our well.
The main use of water, used in whisky production is cooling water for the still and water for steeping the grain for germination.
Waters used for cooling purposes are reused in our own production. Cooling water from our single destillation process is hot (80°C) and can directly be used for mashing the grain for brewing, with only little addition of energy. Cooling water for brewing is of lower temperature. This is reused for steeping water, before finally being spread on our farmlands.
